Frequently Asked Questions
We use the USDA FoodData Central database of nutritional information to calculate balanced food recipes for dogs based on their age, weight, and dietary needs. Recipes are optimized based on guidelines published by AAFCO (Association of American Feed Control Officials). It performs linear optimisation on the ingredients to find optimal recipes.
AAFCO requirements compensate for poor nutrient absorption in processed, carbohydrate rich and low moisture foods utilising synthetic nutrients. The same targets lead to extremely organ heavy fresh compositions. The values below show by how much AAFCO minimum guidelines exceed raw milk on which our adjusted requirements are based.
Nutrient | Raw vs. Original |
---|---|
Arginine | 10% more |
EPA + DHA | 60% more |
Calcium | 10% more |

Selenium | 30% more |
